UNIT - 1
     Domestic and Industrial Wiring
     Different types of cables and wires, size and current carrying capacity of wires, Different types of wiring and their wiring diagrams, Selection of conductor size, Cost estimation of different types of wiring (Domestic, Industrial), Protective devices (fuses, MCB, MCCB, etc.)

Unit - 2
     Radiant energy. Definition and laws of illumination. Polar curves. Photometry. Electric lamps. Light fittings. Illumination for different purposes, Energy efficient lighting.

Unit - 3
     Electric heating. Resistance ovens. Radiant heating. Induction heating. Eddy current heating. Dielectric heating. Arc furnaces. Arc welding. Resistance welding.

Unit - 4
     Modern System of traction. Speed time curves and mechanics of train movement. Train resistance. Adhesive weight and coefficient of adhesion. Motors for electric traction. D.C. series and shunt motors. A.C. series motors. Three phase induction motors.

Unit - 5
     Control of D.C. motors. Field control. Multiple unit control. Series parallel control. Metadyne control. Control of single phase motors. Electric braking. Regenerative braking with DC and AC motors. Traction systems and power supplies. Overhead equipment. Feeding and distribution system for AC and DC traction. Negative booster.
