About the Subject
Welcome to this course on Utilization of Electrical Power and Traction. All B.Tech. Electrical students has to undergo this course as a electrical core subject in their eighth semester. Power System usually has a goal of highest performance at lowest cost.
The main purpose of this course is to efficiently utilize the electrical power for household and industrial purpose. In this course the knowledge of traction load i.e. heavy moving load also included.
The course can be broadly divided into 5 unit, namely: unit - 1 contain knowledge about domestic and industrial wiring. Unit 2 includes radiant energy and unit 3 includes concept regarding electric heating. And unit 4 gives knowledge of modern system of traction. Unit gives control of DC Motor.
About Professor
Dr. D. K. Chaturvedi is working as Professor at Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Dayalbagh Educational Institute(Deemed Univ.), Dayalbagh, Agra, India. Presently, he is working in the area of electrical Power System control, Modelling and Bio Instrumentation and sensors using softcomputing techniques. He authored two books in the area of soft computing and modeling of systems form Spinger and CRC press respectively. He edited a book on "Theology, Science and Technology: Ethics and Moral Value" and also introduced a course at post graduate level on Professional Ethics and Moral values. He has been awarded by BOYSCAST fellowship from Governement of India, U.P. State Power Sector Award and Tata Rao Medal by Institution of Engineers (India). His name is included in Marquis Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in Asia in 2006-07. Also included in Who's Who in world in 2007-08.
